An ambitious project to create an enterprise level, multifaceted marketing SaaS platform. Working with a small, newly all remote, agile team meant a lot to accomplish and whole lot to learn.

It started off as a slack app...

The story of Truenorth is a long and winding one.

It's inception sprouted from a week long design sprint.
The result of the process lead us to produce a slack app.

We moved quickly to release the app within a few months on Product Hunt to which it was recieved with a warm reception.
Aptly named SignOff it was created to solve the problem of signing off marketing ideas faster, inside Slack 😀

We're gonna need more graphs.

After several iterations of the slack app, we started to realise there was more to this than tracking signed off campaigns.


Marketing campaigns exist in multiple domains, with varying timescales and complexity.
Fundementally; tracking the evolution of an idea into a campaign and retrospecting on how the result compared with the original idea ROI seemed valuable.


More importantly; nothing out there did this.


It became obvious that we needed to create a place for marketers to see how all their campaigns were contributing to their long term marketing goals.

Everything and everyone focused on the goal.

TrueNorth acts as the umbrella for four quadrants of growth marketing- a Marketing OS.


After creating these foundational pillars, we set about creating services for managing 3rd party integrations for campaign management such as Google Ads, Facebook, LinkedIn and Hubspot to name but a few.


This was a great step in providing security and convienience for our users. Entering and syncing data manually is so not sexy!

With the product feeling feature complete it was time for a second product hunt launch, but this time was for our new platform: TrueNorth


Product hunt is a great place to show the world what you're working on, get feedback and understand where it fits in with the rest of technology based culture.


We gained lots of insights and requests from new users through our launch, assuring us we are on the right track. Time to keep building!

A culture of data-led experimentation.

One of my favourite areas of the product was the ideation sessions.


Creating an environment for teams to cohere and collaborate asynchronously seemed to be a relevant problem that needed solving globally at the time.


When trying to understand how good an idea is, it was an area with the most potential to gain understanding into non-quantative metrics which the rest of the product revolved around.

The place where it starts and starts again!
